What We Do

Three areas of repair work

Each service is carried out at a dedicated station. Work moves at the pace the piece requires, not at the pace of a production schedule.

Surface marks removed from acrylic or mineral crystals, bezel tidied, crystal reseated where needed. A good fit for daily-wear pieces that have collected scratches over time. Turnaround one to two days.

Why Pinionworks

What sets the workshop apart

Station-by-Station Method

Work is broken into defined stations. Each stage is completed and verified before the next begins, keeping quality consistent from first inspection to final check.

Written Assessment on Request

For restoration work, a written assessment is prepared before any work begins. Owners know what is being done and why, with no surprises at collection.

Honest Turnaround Times

Turnaround estimates are stated clearly and kept to. If something changes, owners are contacted directly. No vague windows, no unexplained delays.

Piece Character Respected

Refinishing is sympathetic, not aggressive. Original finish and ageing are considered before any tool touches the surface. Heavy cosmetic work is never the default.

Specialist Complication Work

Repeaters and calendar movements require hand-fitting of parts and careful regulation. This workshop takes on that work and gives it the time it needs.

Accessible Chiang Mai Location

Located on Phra Pokklao Road in Phra Sing, within easy reach of the old city. Drop-off and collection available during workshop hours, six days a week.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

How do I bring my watch in for repair?
You can visit the workshop at 73 Phra Pokklao Road during opening hours. If you prefer, send a message first with a description of the piece and the issue — the workshop will advise on the most suitable approach before you make the trip.
How long will the repair take?
Turnaround varies by service. Crystal polishing is typically one to two days. Dial refinishing runs around three weeks. Pocket watch and complication restoration is eight to twelve weeks, depending on the condition and complexity of the movement. Estimates are given at intake and kept to.
What types of watches do you work on?
The workshop handles wristwatches with acrylic or mineral crystals, dress watches requiring dial refinishing, and pocket watches or complicated movements such as repeaters and perpetual calendars. If you are unsure whether your piece is a suitable candidate, a brief description is all that is needed to get an initial view.
Will the original character of my watch be preserved?
That is the intention. Dial refinishing is approached sympathetically — original colour, finish, and appropriate ageing are taken into account. Colour matching to the original is pursued where feasible. The aim is an honest refresh, not a transformation.
How are prices determined?
Published prices apply to standard work within each service category. For restoration work with unusual complexity or sourced parts, a written assessment is prepared first and the final figure agreed before any work begins.
Is my watch safe while it is at the workshop?
Every piece taken in is logged with a reference and stored securely when not on the bench. The workshop handles one piece at a time at each station, and movements are kept in labelled trays throughout the process. Owners are kept informed at key stages, particularly for longer restoration work.
