These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Pinionworks ("we", "us", "our") provides watch repair and restoration services from our workshop at 73 Phra Pokklao Road, Phra Sing, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand. By bringing a timepiece to us for assessment or repair, or by making an enquiry through our website, you confirm that you have read and agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Definitions
"Agreement" means these Terms and Conditions together with any written repair estimate accepted by you.
"Service" means any watch repair, crystal polishing, dial refinishing, hand refitting, or pocket watch restoration carried out by us.
"Item" means any timepiece, component, or accessory entrusted to us by you.
"We / Us / Our" means Pinionworks, operating from the address stated above.
"You / User" means any person who submits an Item for assessment or repair, or who contacts us through our website.
"Website" means the pages published at the domain pinionworks.world.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By using our Website or leaving an Item with us, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You have the legal capacity and authority to enter into this Agreement.
- You are the owner of the Item, or you have the owner's express written permission to authorise repair work.
If any of the above does not apply, please do not leave an Item or submit an enquiry until the relevant condition is met.
3. Service Description
We offer hands-on watch repair and restoration from our Chiang Mai workshop. Our current service range includes:
- Crystal Polishing & Light Refinish — removal of light surface marks from acrylic or mineral crystals, including a clarity check and reseating where required.
- Dial Refinishing & Hand Refitting — sympathetic refinishing of worn dials and refitting of hands, with colour matching to the original where feasible.
- Pocket Watch & Complication Restoration — station-by-station restoration of pocket watches and complicated movements, with a written assessment, staged restoration, and final regulation.
All work is carried out at our workshop in Thailand. We do not offer postal repair services unless explicitly agreed in writing.
Quoted turnaround times are estimates based on typical workloads and the condition of Items at intake. We will notify you if circumstances affecting your Item extend the expected turnaround.
4. User Responsibilities
When using our Website or leaving an Item with us, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information about yourself and the Item.
- Disclose any known damage, previous repairs, or conditions that may be relevant to the work requested.
- Respond to our communications within a reasonable time, particularly where we need approval to proceed with additional work or sourcing of parts.
- Collect your Item within 30 days of notification that it is ready. Items not collected within 60 days after we have made reasonable efforts to contact you may, at our discretion, be treated as abandoned.
- Not use our Website in any way that could damage, disrupt, or impair its operation or the experience of other visitors.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on our Website — including text, photographs, design elements, and technical descriptions — is the property of Pinionworks or used with appropriate permission. Nothing on the Website transfers any intellectual property rights to you.
You are welcome to view the Website for personal, non-commercial purposes. Reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use of any content requires our prior written consent.
6. Payment Terms
All prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of the described service scope. Current service prices are:
- Crystal Polishing & Light Refinish — ฿4,400
- Dial Refinishing & Hand Refitting — ฿9,500
- Pocket Watch & Complication Restoration — ฿34,500
Prices may be revised if the actual scope of work differs materially from what was apparent at the time of intake. Any revision will be communicated to you in writing before additional work proceeds.
Payment is due in full on collection of the Item, unless a deposit arrangement has been agreed in writing at the time of intake. We accept cash (Thai Baht) and bank transfer. Please enquire about other payment options at intake.
We do not offer retrospective refunds once a service has been carried out in full accordance with the agreed scope and our standard of workmanship. If you believe work has not been completed as agreed, please contact us promptly so we may review the matter.
7. Service-Specific Terms
Intake and Assessment
Before any chargeable work begins, we will provide a written assessment outlining the scope of work, estimated cost, and expected turnaround. Work commences only with your written or electronic approval.
Parts
Where replacement parts are required and cannot be sourced from original stock, we will inform you of the available options. Hand-fitted or fabricated parts will be noted in the written assessment.
Condition at Intake
We document the condition of every Item at intake. Our liability is limited to work carried out after the documented intake condition.
Water Resistance
Removal of a crystal or caseback for service purposes may affect any existing water resistance rating. We will note where this applies; re-sealing or pressure testing, where available, may be arranged as an additional scope item.
8. Disclaimers
Our Website and services are provided in good faith on an "as available" basis. We do not represent or warrant that:
- The Website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
- Any particular outcome will result from a repair or restoration service — we apply our professional knowledge and care but the condition of an antique or vintage Item can present unforeseen factors.
- Information on the Website is complete or current at any given time; watch repair is a practical craft and written descriptions are summaries only.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Thai law.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you in connection with any single Item or service engagement shall not exceed the price paid for that service.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses including loss of sentimental value, loss of use, or loss of profit arising from our services or the Website.
We take reasonable precautions with Items in our care, but we are not liable for pre-existing faults not apparent at intake, or for deterioration attributable to the inherent condition of antique components.
Nothing in this clause limits our liability for death, personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited under the applicable law of Thailand.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pinionworks and its staff from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these terms, the provision of inaccurate information, or your unauthorised submission of an Item that belongs to another person.
11. Termination
Either party may withdraw from a service engagement before chargeable work has begun, without penalty. If work is already in progress, costs incurred up to the point of withdrawal will be payable on collection of the Item.
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue an engagement if the scope of work changes substantially from what was agreed, or if continued work would not, in our professional assessment, benefit the Item.
12. Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from our services will first be addressed through direct communication — please contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within five working days.
If a matter cannot be resolved informally, it shall be referred to mediation or, where that is not possible, to the courts of competent jurisdiction in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.
13. General Provisions
Entire Agreement. These terms, together with any written repair assessment, constitute the complete agreement between us regarding a service engagement.
Severability. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision on any occasion does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it in future.
Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another entity operating the workshop. You may not transfer your rights without our consent.
Notices. Formal notices to us should be sent in writing to our workshop address or to [email protected].
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The revised version will be published on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. For ongoing service engagements, the terms in effect at the time of the written assessment will apply unless we notify you of a material change and you confirm your wish to continue.
Continued use of our Website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms for the purposes of Website use.
